Every March, Hong Kong transforms into Asia's premier international art hub, buzzing with creative energy. To be part of this highlight, the ADC Artspace of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) in Wong Chuk Hang will open its doors on 21 & 22 March for a two-day open studio, welcoming the public to step inside over 20 artists' workspaces. Visitors can uncover diverse creations, enjoy live demonstrations, and take part in interactive workshops, immersing themselves in the boundless world of arts.
Additionally, former tenant artist Lawrence Ting's popular bamboo weaving piece “Momentary Bamboo Canvas”, created for the HKADC's 30th Anniversary Open Days last year, returns to continue its artistic legacy and to engage audiences once again.
During the Open Days, the SHOWCASE and Arts Information Centre on the UG/F will together present diverse activities, including:
SHOWCASE : “The Lurking Void”
To demonstrate the versatility of the HKADC SHOWCASE, its latest exhibition “The Lurking Void” will be presented during Art March. Through site-specific installations by Hong Kong artist Phoebe Hui, the exhibition invites visitors to steps into a heterotopic world and rethink of human presence, labour, work, identity and value. During the exhibition period, artist sharing, workshop and guided tours will also be hosted, inviting the public to participate in diverse ways.
Arts Information Centre : Quarterly Collection Display "A Glimpse of selected Hong Kong Artists at Art Basel"Through the archives of several Hong Kong artists who have previously participated in Art Basel Hong Kong including GayBird, Frog King, Anothermountainman and Samson Young, visitors can revisit their creative journeys and artistic contributions and uncover more stories from Hong Kong’s vibrant art scene.
